Computer Evidence Ltd Training Courses
in Computer Forensics
The Computer Evidence Ltd training courses prepare the participant for the
gathering and presentation of evidence in courts and tribunals throught out the
world. Course 1 has been approved by the Law Society and gives 5 hours CPD
credit to the practicing lawyer.
The overriding objective of the computer forensic practitioner must always be
the analysis and presentation of computer based material in such a way that it
can be used as evidence in a court of law. Should any action performed during
the examination obviate the use of the material "….as evidence in a court of
law", then the practitioner has failed in the task.
In order to achieve the objective it is necessary for the computer forensic
practitioner to have knowledge and understanding of a diverse range of subject
matter, including the following.
-
Forensic principles for the handling and examination of suspect material
-
Legal processes and rules of evidence leading to the acceptance of materials in
court
-
Computer systems and their component parts
-
Operating systems, data handling and storage mechanisms
-
Investigation techniques
-
Case note reporting procedures and court report writing
-
Courtroom procedure and presentation
DIBS® Training Courses, which have been held since the earliest days of the
development of computer forensics,
have consistently addressed all of these areas.
Over the years, a range of computer forensic courses have been held for
trainees with varied levels of experience and expectation. General courses have
been provided as overviews for those in allied fields who will not practice
computer forensics but require an understanding of the principles involved.
These have included lawyers, forensic accountants, tax inspectors, financial
consultants, investigators and many others.
For the experienced practitioner advanced courses have dealt with specialist
areas, building on existing skills to develop high-level competency.
Hands-on courses have been provided for all skills levels in the operation of
computer forensic equipment and, most importantly, the correct procedures to
ensure that evidential integrity and continuity are maintained at all times.
On-site training has also been conducted, in numerous countries, and has been
tailored to meet the needs of a wide range of clients in many different fields.
In excess of one thousand trainees have successfully completed DIBS® Training
Courses and received certificates in recognition of their success.
The two courses offered are:
A one day intensive introductory course providing an overview of the subject
area and aimed at those in allied fields. This course has been approved by the
Law Society and gives 5 hours CPD credit to the practicing lawyer.
A two day intensive course divided into theory sessions dealing with forensic
principles and hand-on practice in using DIBS® equipment.
